The Ingenico Lane 3000 is a PIN pad built for retail checkouts: supermarket lanes, liquor stores, service stations and busy shop counters. A Lane 3000 wet cover from Keycovers is a clear, flexible cover moulded to the Lane 3000 keypad. It protects the PIN pad from spills, dust and constant use while customers key in their PINs as usual.
We first wrote about our Ingenico Lane 3000 and Desk 1500 wet covers a while ago. This post goes into more detail on the Lane 3000 and how retailers and resellers can get the most from it.
Why Lane 3000 PIN pads wear out
A PIN pad at a busy checkout is pressed by hundreds of customers a day. It’s also surrounded by groceries, drinks, condensation from chilled products and cleaning sprays. Over time that leads to:
- sticky or unresponsive keys from spills and residue
- worn key legends that are hard for customers to read
- dirt and grime building up in the gaps around the keys
- moisture getting into the pad, which can be expensive to repair and often means replacing the whole unit.
Ingenico no longer sells the Lane 3000 new, so many retailers want the PIN pads they already have to keep going for as long as possible. A wet cover is a simple way to help with that.

What the Lane 3000 wet cover does
The cover fits snugly over the Lane 3000 keypad, so each key can still be pressed normally and the cover takes the handling. When properly installed, it’s designed to:
- help keep spills and splashes out of the keypad
- keep dust, grime and food residue on the surface, where it can be wiped away
- make cleaning between customers quick and easy
- reduce wear on the keys and the PIN pad’s finish.
Our wet covers are made in New Zealand from a material that resists the growth of microbes and fungus. Spray an approved antimicrobial cleaner onto a cloth, not onto the PIN pad, and wipe the cover clean.
Where Lane 3000 wet covers are most useful
- Supermarkets and grocery stores: chilled products, wet bags and constant traffic.
- Liquor stores and service stations: drinks, fuel-stained hands and outdoor grime.
- Hospitality counters: where a Lane 3000 sits next to a till or bar.
- Pharmacies: where PIN pads are wiped down many times a day.

Looking after a Lane 3000 wet cover
- Confirm the model. Check the label on the PIN pad says Lane 3000. Other Ingenico PIN pads have different layouts.
- Fit it clean and dry. Wipe the keypad first and let it dry fully.
- Make checks part of the routine. A quick look at closing time will catch tears or lifting edges.
- Replace worn covers. Covers are a wear item. Keep spares at each store so a worn one can be swapped straight away.
Lane 3000 wet covers across a store network
For retailers with many lanes, or resellers who look after retail fleets, the simplest approach is to fit a cover to every Lane 3000 at once and hold a small stock of spares. Using the same cover everywhere keeps reordering easy.
Keycovers has made EFTPOS wet covers in New Zealand for more than 25 years. As well as the Lane 3000, our current range includes covers for the Ingenico Desk 1500 (a two-part cover), Desk 3200, Desk 5000 and Move 5000, and the Verifone P400 and 210m.
