Card being inserted into a handheld payment terminal at a shop counter

The Ingenico Move 5000 and the Verifone P400 and 210m are widely used at New Zealand counters, tables and market stalls. Keycovers makes a Move 5000 wet cover (including a version for the newer Move 5000 V6 key layout), a Verifone P400 wet cover and a Verifone 210m wet cover. Each one is a clear, flexible cover moulded to that model’s keypad.

This post explains what these wet covers do, how to make sure you order the right one, and how to look after them.

What a Move 5000, P400 or 210m wet cover does

Every key on a terminal keypad has a gap around it, and liquid, dust and food residue find those gaps. A wet cover sits snugly over the keypad so the keys stay readable and easy to press, while the cover takes the spills and handling. When properly installed, it’s designed to:

Moisture damage can be expensive to repair and often means replacing the whole unit, so a cover is a simple way to protect the terminal. Our wet covers are made in New Zealand from a material that resists the growth of microbes and fungus.

Ingenico Move 5000 wet covers, including the V6

The Move 5000 is a portable terminal, so it gets carried to tables, handed to customers and used outdoors. That’s exactly where a wet cover earns its keep.

Ingenico has changed the keypad layout on newer Move 5000 terminals, and those need our Move 5000 V6 wet cover. The original Move 5000 cover won’t line up with the new keys. Not sure which you have? Send us a photo of the keypad and the label on the back of the terminal, and we’ll tell you which cover fits.

Verifone P400 wet covers

The Verifone P400 is a PIN pad that usually sits at the counter, often paired with a separate terminal or POS. PIN pads are pressed by every customer, so the keys wear and gather grime quickly. A P400 wet cover keeps the keypad sealed against spills on the bench and makes wiping down between customers easy.

Verifone 210m wet covers

The Verifone 210m is a compact portable terminal, popular for table service and mobile trading. Our 210m wet cover protects its keypad when it’s put down on wet tables, carried in pockets or used outside. Check that the label on your terminal says 210m before ordering, as similar Verifone models can have different bodies.

Looking after Move 5000, P400 and 210m wet covers

  1. Order by exact model. Check the label on the terminal, and for the Move 5000 check whether you have the V6 key layout.
  2. Fit clean and dry. Wipe the keypad and let it dry before fitting the cover.
  3. Clean the cloth way. Spray an approved antimicrobial cleaner onto a cloth, not the terminal, and wipe. Our guide to cleaning an EFTPOS terminal safely has more detail.
  4. Replace when worn. Covers are a wear item. A torn or stretched cover won’t seal properly, so keep a few spares on hand.
